[NetClipsKaboWiki] kabo-list-wiki
The former kabo-wiki-list has been renamed and substituted with the kabo-list-wiki.

The kabo-list-wiki is a center-wiki to list and categorize the wikis in the kabo-wiki-hive for all languages. Each kabo-wiki has a list page in it aggregating information about the wiki. See the day-page-set kabo-wiki, all wikis for a current list with links to the list pages. Or search the kabo-wikis by categories.

This is a wiki about wikileaks running the Mediawiki software.
Welcome to the WikiLeaks Wiki!
We hope to present an easier way for people to discuss and discover what is in the cables. We would also like to provide a good resource containing videos, articles, arguments and anything else related to the Wikileaks situation. Hopefully we can add context and analysis to the growing number of releases. Just setting things up now. Anyone can edit so we will aim to keep an unbiased response to everything. This site is not affiliated with WikLeaks, the Government, or Anonymous in any way, but just hopes to put some order to all the information. Try out wiki in the sand-box, please. You find short wiki instructions in it.
The
talk is good for first hellos, for questions, weird ideas, discussions, anything. Interesting contents can easily be moved to a specific wiki page at any time and by any person.
To create links we preferably use local names. Feel free to link as you please though. CamelCase page names are links: WikiNode for example. But wiki-node reads better.
The wikileaks-wiki sits in the kabo-wiki-hive and runs on the free and open source oddmuse wiki software. The page [about the wikileaks-wiki]? tells how the wikileaks-wiki came about.

Started ~ x-mas 2010 the wikileaks-wiki hopefully promotes the wikileaks cause more than it dilutes it … by doubling user accounts.
Anyhow, this wiki - just in case it proves useful - can be migrated to a wikileaks server when ever.

[NetClipsMultiLingual] moinmoin-wiki - creating multilingual wikis and wiki engines

What is a wiki, and why would we want it to be multilingual? A given mailing list normally works in a given language. Why would a wiki be different?
The answer seems to be that as a community grows, it spawns sub-communities that may work in different languages. In such cases, new mailing lists are created, for example. But for a wiki, things are more complicated, because unlike mailing list messages, which are transient, wikis contain permanent articles, and there may be a strong correspondence between articles in different languages. Thus, when a wiki community spawns a sub-community, it is normally insufficient to merely create a new, independent wiki. Instead, a certain amount of interlinking must happen, and it must be supported by the wiki engine.
However, if multilinguality is the result of the creation of sub-communities, it is important to recognize that these sub-communities shall generally work independently. Attempting to impose rules about blurring language barriers, forcing translations to exist, and ensuring a 1-1 correspondence between articles in different languages, may be counter-productive. Multilingual users are the glue that joins the sub-communities together in one large loose community, and if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have anything to discuss now. Thus, we must care about the needs of multilingual users, and make sure they can navigate and easily jump from an article to its alternative language version, but also recognize that a large part of the work occurs independently in the language sub-communities.
